چکیده

The economic production and the interactive rendering of complete reconstructions of populated urban environments are technically difficult tasks. Specialized modelling tools, which exploit knowledge of the types of object being modelled by working in the application domain, can be used to create appealing virtual reconstructions quickly. At the same time, the structural information from the modeller gives valuable hints to the renderer to determine efficient interactive display strategies through the use of level-of-detail and culling techniques. Thus a modeller that knows the operator is creating houses can use this information to simplify the user interaction, guide the operator, and to create models that build in optimisations when attempting realtime rendering. In this paper we discuss the way in which polygonal and multi-resolution surface techniques can complement one another in the modelling of urban environments. We also draw more general conclusions which apply to other software systems that share the same objective.

Hexagonal Topology and Polygonal Complex Approach

The importance of generating subdivision surfaces is being appreciated in both geometric modelling and computer graphics applications. In this paper, a scheme is proposed which defines polygonal complexes to generate limiting curves interpolated by the surface obtained using hexagonal subdivision technique. The algorithm developed for the implementation of the scheme, works successfully as show...

Generation of Subdivision Hierarchies for Efficient Occlusion Culling of Large Polygonal Models

Efficient handling of large polygonal scenes has always been a challenging task. In recent years, view-frustum and occlusion culling have drawn a lot of attention for reducing the complexity of those scenes. The problem of how to efficiently organize such scenes for fast image synthesis is widely neglected, although the answer heavily affects the overall performance. In this paper, we present t...

Least Squares Subdivision Surfaces

The usual approach to design subdivision schemes for curves and surfaces basically consists in combining proper rules for regular configurations, with some specific heuristics to handle extraordinary vertices. In this paper, we introduce an alternative approach, called Least Squares Subdivision Surfaces (LS3), where the key idea is to iteratively project each vertex onto a local approximation o...

The Optimization of Open- Space Based on Social Theory in Iran

The usage of social theories in the human-built environment caused to enhance life quality. It may consist of human needs in residential areas. Sometimes, building codes can help to exist accepted life space, but the building codes do not have basic theory such as actual open space in residential plots. The study was an attempt to represent a new approach in urban land subdivision and the relat...
